川崎出身 茅ヶ崎在住
13歳で溶接を習う
2010年に音のかたちSeiシリーズを開始。
“大きな音で遠くまで届けようとするよりも
小さくても凝縮されたような振動と響き合いを“
幼少期から鉄に触れる中で
鉄の持つ可能性を感じ、作品制作を開始
固く冷たいイメージの鉄が
実は、柔らかく温かい音を奏でる
それを知ったとき、鉄本来の持つ音を追求したいと決意する
風を受けてささやかに響き、空間を繋ぐ鉄彫刻
視覚と聴覚で同時に楽しめる、海洋ごみを使用した曼荼羅スコープ
イマジネーションを刺激する、鉄の架空生物たち
実際に触れて、楽しむ楽器
作品を通して
鉄の振動のやさしさが広がっていったらいいなと

Seiji Iida IRON SCULPTOR
Born in Kawasaki and lives in Chigasaki.
“Rather than trying to make loud sounds that have a far reach, I wanted to create small,condensed vibrations and resonances.”
Since childhood, I have been working with iron, having felt its potential, I was inspired to begin making art.
When I learned that iron, which is often thought of as a hard and cold material, actually produces soft and warm sounds; I decided to pursue the original sound of iron.
Iron sculptures that resonate softly in the wind and connect spaces.
Mandalascopes made from marine debris that can be enjoyed visually and aurally at the same time.
Imaginary iron creatures that stimulate the imagination.
Instruments that you can actually touch and enjoy.
I always hope that the gentle vibrations of iron can spread through my work.
